Dear community members and friends,
As we welcome the month of May, we at the ZAMC hope that our May Newsletter greets our community members healthy and well with much to look forward to this coming summer.
We in the ZAMC have had a number of reasons to celebrate in the past month, especially with the success of this year’s 2024 FEZANA AGM, which we hosted right here in Chicago. A full writeup on this amazing event is featured in this newsletter.
Looking forward into May, we are excited to also inform everyone that one of our community members, Shazad Mehta, is playing a major role in the stage performance of Charley’s Aunt, a hilarious play put on by his GreenMan Theatre Troupe in Elmhurst. More information on how to purchase tickets for the play which runs May 3 – May 19 is on page 3.
In addition, early next month (June 2) is the day marking the death anniversary of a pious and saintly person, Homa Jamshed Zaahiaa. We have included an informative writeup on the significance of the religious day known as Homajee’s Baaj, compiled by our own Kayomarsh Mehta.
As a continued reminder, our annual ZAMC Scholarship is now available, and includes the ZAMC Student Scholarship as well as the Putla Dara Press Endowment Scholarship. The deadline to apply for these scholarships has been extended to May 15, and more information on how to apply is provided in this issue of our newsletter.
Finally, a gentle reminder to please ensure that your ZAMC membership dues are up-to-date. Going forward, in future newsletters we will be working on publishing a running list of all membership dues paid for the year in the newsletter. If you’re not in the list but think you should be, please let us know. Your membership can be renewed online by visiting our website.
As always, please feel free to reach out to our Board members, or in general at zamc@zamc.org with any questions or ideas you may have.
